However, Linux editions installed on both mobile devices and personal computers have become increasingly commonplace in recent years, owing largely to its highly portability and high degree of freedom. In view of the importance of user friendly operation, almost all of these editions are based on Graphical User Interface(GUI). Based on GTK, one of the most popular cross-platform widget toolkits for creating graphical user interfaces, Gnome is a dominant desktop environment—the GUI which runs on top of a computer operating system. This paper mainly focused on the implementation of a simple GUI interfaced mp3 player using GTK and GStreamer technology under Gnome environment, will illustrate detailed steps on Linux GUI programming.
