The ir data from the tv receiver is sent through the IR line it consists of both tv data and keyboard data. Control of the entire system is through SBB/STB and Tv performs according to command from the SBB/STB Sco pe of this document includes brief description of the system communication hardware interface and settings. Interface protocol packet description and commands from tv to SBB/STB and from SBB/STB to TV In normal condition TV is the originator of all messages and SBB/STB replies with status. When TV is powered-up initially it sends command to identify SBB/STB if identified TV switches to oNLINE mode and full control is through SBB/STB. If SBB/stB is not identified tv switches to STANDALONE mode with restricted operation. Communication flow control is none. The ir transmitter of SBB/STB remote control keyboard should work at 36=t 2 KHz and comply with Samsung rc specifications. 8. Power-Up Sequence Initial on power-up tv will try to establish connection with SBB/STB The communication begins with a transmission from the tv to determine whether an SBB/STB is connected and is in operation TV will in this first sequence identify itself to the SBB/STB using Request SBB/STB ID command so that the Sbb/StB knows what type of Tv is connected The SBB/STB Will reply with an Id sequence to identify itself to the Tv TV will then establish communication with the SBB/ STB and go into ONLINE mode. poll rate when communication has been established ranges from 100ms to 600 ms(depending on model) TV will stop polling while busy executing a command, but not for more than 5 Seconds, except in case of clone mode operation In ONLINE Mode the Tv sends the tv status command and the SBB/STB responds with SBB/STB Status command. If the SBB/stB does not respond to the tv status command, the tv will continue to send the tv status command between 3 to 10 times(depending on polling rate) before entering into OFFLINE mode f Tv fails to establish communication with the SBB/STB, Tv will regard the interface as missing and will revert to the standaLone mode. tv in this case attempt to establish communication with the SBB/STB every 2 seconds TV functions as normal hotel TV(as set in TV Setup Menu) in STANDALONE mode. This is to make sure that guests are not disturbed when SBB/STB has failed. No program search is allowed when the tv is In Ho mode SAMSUNG No Part of this document may be reproduced or transmitted without permission of Samsung Electronics 4.Operational modes The tv(in Hotel mode)in reference to SBB/STB operation is in one of two states- online or STANDALoNE In the standalone state the ty will act as a hotel ty but without active communication. This is to prevent guests from trying to cheat the system by disconnecting the SBB/STB Hotel tv Standalone Mode Power ON Normal Tv Online Mode At power up, the tv in STANDALONE mode try to esta blish communication with SBB/STB by sending Request SBB/STB ID command between 3 to 10 times(depending on polling rate). If the SBB response is received within these attempts the tv will enter into online mode. otherwise tv enters into OFFLINE mode and in this case Tv attempts to establish communication every 2 seconds using Request SBB/STB ID command Once in ONLINE Mode, the tv sends the tv status command every polling cycle. The SBB/STB needs to respond to this command with SBB/STB Status command. If the SBB/stB does not respond to the TV Status command the tv will continue to send the tv status comm and between 3 to 10 times (depending on polling rate ). During this if the sBB/stB does not respond the tv will enter into OFFLINE mode and start sending Request SBB/STB ID command for every 2 seconds SAMSUNG No Part of this document may be reproduced or transmitted without permission of Samsung Electronics 5. Packet Description Generic protocol packet consists of a control byte, followed by command 1, command 2, data length information(for communication simplicity ), data bytes(maximum of 64 bytes )and last is checksum byte. Checksum is the lower byte sum of all bytes before the checksum Control Data Command Command 2 Byte Length Data1 Data2. Data64 Checksum Control Byte: 01011/0xxx Command1: Command byte 1 is high byte of command msb is set to 1 if command is from SBB/STB to TV(from 0X80 onwards) Command2: Command byte 2 is low byte of command Data Length: Data length byte is the total count of data bytes in the packet. It has a maximum value of 64 Data [1.nn]: Variable length of data bytes, upto a maximum of 64 bytes Checksum: The 8-bit sum of all preceding bytes All data in the interface protocol are on hEX format unless otherwise specified Example:-588002028001 B9 is the packet for Power ON command from SBB/STB Where 58->Control Byte 80-> High byte of Power on command 02-> Power ON command (Low Byte 02-> Data length 80-> Data bytel value 01-> Data byte value SD->Checksum for the packet
