Abstract Several thermody namic calculation methods were compared by using the ASPEN PLUS, PRO/ II and
HYSMM softw ares. The results show ed that, great differeces appear in the results of heat duty, reflux ratio, gas and
liquid phase duty of the column with different themodynamic methods of the same softw are or the same method of dif
ferent softwares The result of ASPEn PLUS is near to that of pro/ II and can be used as the b asic data for engi
neering design. The reason of error was explored
